Moscow Fashion Week Kicks Off With A Dazzling Showcase Of Emerging Industry Stars

LinkedIn Email

Moscow Fashion Week is leaning into the growing appetite for new voices by platforming emerging designers in the fashion industry, a trend already noticeable at other European fashion weeks this season. At this final leg of the global fashion season taking place from 14-19 March in Moscow, emerging labels appear alongside well-established brands, allowing up-and-coming designers to present their work to influential onlookers and inject fresh ideas into contemporary fashion.

A Global Talent Network

The Moscow runway welcomes artistry from around the world. New participants are selected from more than a thousand applications from Russia and abroad. The discoveries made through the programme become part of an illustrious lineup of over 200 brands, highlighting the creative strength of Russian fashion and its global demand.

“What impressed me most was the remarkable diversity among the designers. Each brand presented a distinct creative identity, yet the overall standard of craftsmanship and presentation was consistently strong. The collections were thoughtfully constructed, visually compelling, and clearly reflected a deep level of design maturity. There was a sense of confidence in the work, from tailoring to fabric choices, that made the showcases feel both elevated and intentional.” – Mahlet Teklemariam, Founder Hub of Africa Fashion Week

Africa in Focus

For designers on the African continent, Moscow Fashion Week embodies a familiar spirit of authenticity and disruption.

“I think both Johannesburg and Moscow share a strong sense of identity. Designers in both cities are driven by passion, they tell stories through fabric, culture, and emotion. There’s also this hunger to be seen, to redefine how the world perceives fashion from our regions. Moscow’s style feels powerful yet elegant,  there’s confidence in how people present themselves.” – Stephen Manzini, Founder and CEO Soweto Fashion Week & SA Fashion Association

Over the coming week, spectators will be treated to showcases from designers from the African region, including South Africa and Ethiopia, who frequently take part in Moscow Fashion Week.

A Global Convergence of Culture

This season, brands from China, Spain, Turkey, and other countries arrive in Moscow, allowing for expansion of an international presence, as the global fashion community closely follows what happens at Moscow Fashion Week.

“Moscow Fashion Week provided an international platform to present my design philosophy and narrative-driven approach, allowing the brand to reach a wider audience beyond Turkey. This participation strengthened the brand’s visibility in global fashion circles and created new opportunities for collaborations and media coverage.” – Turkish designer Emre Erdemoğlu on presenting a collection in Moscow

Stand out American labels to watch include Viva Vox, known for its signature prints, abundant use of leather and fur, and bold experiments with tailoring; Solangel, whose jumpsuits are chosen by Jennifer Lopez for her performances; and Julia Dalakian, whose brand has been active in both European and American markets since its launch, has showcased collections in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Milan, and New York

Exporting Russian Style

As the fashion world converges in Russia this week, Russian fashion also takes to other markets to export Russian fashion design and trends. The exchange program between Moscow Fashion Week and international industry associations plays an important role in this process. In January this year, the brand Ermilov made a successful debut at the Hub of Africa Fashion Week in Ethiopia. Before that, runway shows by talented Russian labels became highlights at major fashion events in South Africa, China, Spain, India, and other countries. Such interaction enables local designers, particularly those from developing regions, to draw inspiration from other cultures and enhance their recognition.

Moscow Fashion Week continues to showcase the power and influence of the Russian market through global exchange and collaboration, resulting in a diverse and textured showcase of this season’s latest cultural pulse. The resounding message is an ongoing clamour for global cultural exchange and for discovering previously unknown talent and voices from all over the fashion industry. For those interested in contemporary fashion, Moscow Fashion Week provides an opportunity to discover new names and expand their fashion horizons.
