Rolex’s new-generation Oyster Perpetual Explorer II
Rolex introduces their new-generation Oyster Perpetual Explorer II. This technical watch, in Oystersteel, was created for the boldest explorers. It now features a redesigned case and bracelet as well as an update that brings enhanced visual balance and harmony. This timepiece remains true to its aesthetic heritage.
This Oyster Perpetual Explorer II features an Oyster bracelet as well as a white dial with an arrow-shaped 24-hour hand. Both hand and hour markers feature a Chromalight display.
Oystersteel
Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel watch case. As well as being specially developed by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family. These alloys are most commonly used in high-technology and the aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum strength and resistance to corrosion is essential. Oystersteel is extremely resistant, offers an exceptional finish once polished and maintains its beauty even in the harshest environments.
Rolex’s new-generation Oyster Perpetual Explorer II features a date display.
The additional orange 24-hour hand and a fixed bezel with 24-hour graduations distinguish day from night. It became the watch of choice for speleologists, volcanologists, and polar explorers. Its hour markers and hands feature a highly legible Chroma light display with long-lasting blue luminescence.

The Oyster Perpetual Explorer II’s 24-hour Display
Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Explorer II is also equipped with an additional 24-hour display. A dedicated hand circles the dial in 24 hours rather than the usual 12, pointing to a fixed bezel with 24-hour graduations. This function enables the wearer to distinguish the hours of the day from the hours of the night. This is an essential feature for those who venture into environments where darkness reigns supreme. For this reason, this watch is popular for use in the depths of caves. It is also popular where the sun never sets – like the polar regions in summer. Its highly legible dial, extremely resistant Oystersteel and waterproofness have made it the watch for the extremes.
The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function. Its aesthetics and technology are both robust and comfortable. The Oysterlock folding clasp prevents accidental opening. It also features the Easylink comfort extension link, also exclusive to Rolex. This ingenious system allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5mm, providing additional comfort in any circumstance.
