The 2021 Bentley Home Collection
Do the silhouettes, precious metals and iconic shapes of Bentley Motors speak to your soul? The 2021 Bentley Home Collection reinterprets the luxurious Bentley personality and expresses it as statement pieces for your home.
The 2021 Collection features strong lines that give shape to timeless products. The Collection is defined by precious materials, cutting-edge technologies as well as the desire to push the level of craftsmanship beyond all previous boundaries.
The 2021 Bentley Home Collection really comes to life in the video below:
Styal Desk
Designed by Carlo Colombo with significant contribution and collaboration with Bentley Motors Design team, the new Styal desk is the masterpiece of the 2021 Home collection.
A succession of sensual curves runs along the three metres of its wooden frame, covered in either leather or veneer. The sideboard’s elegant position gives it balanced proportion.
Slim and light, extreme from all perspectives: Styal dramatically reimagines the concept of working from home.
Aldford Table
Design and art come together in the elegant, sculptural lines of the new Aldford table. There is a choice between rectangular or circular versions.
The legs taper up from the floor and come together under the top in a single form. This accentuates the sense of lightness and suspension. The top consists of three layers: the underside is lacquered in a glossy black, a metal profile runs around the perimeter, while the upper surface is in marble or glossy wood.
In fact, Aldford presented a completely new constructional challenge. The double curve of the base and the sloping edge of the top required the very latest milling techniques, to breathtaking effect.
Ramsey Sofa and Loveseat
Finally, the new Ramsey line designed by Carlo Colombo defies gravity, with its seat suspended off the floor. Its shell tapers sensually and flows into the armrests that reach upwards like outstretched wings.
In addition, an intriguing transparency between the seat and backrest is the only feature that splits the delicate lines. A gun metal grey insert frames the profile, reaching down below the seat, again emphasising the apparent lack of gravity.
Introducing Degradé
Key to the aesthetic of the new collection is the introduction of Degradé lacquering. This incredibly intricate and complex process involves a number of manual processes.
Firstly, a coat of varnish is hand-applied to protect the wood.
Then, the craftsman airbrushes the colour by hand, layering it just right, gradually drawing away from the wood to accentuate the colour gradient.
The technical skill, in fact, lies in replicating every detail of the shading, to guarantee a result that consistently shows a high level of craftsmanship and mastery.
Then, at the end of this long process, comes the first round of polishing, which gives the product body, depth and solidity.
Lastly, the craftsman applies four coats of varnish before the final polishing.
The Collection’s Degradé lacquering comes to life in a variety of versions: Deep Ocean, Midnight Walnut, Black Kenya, Dark Shadow, Rust Degradé, Silver Degradé as well as Bronze Degradé. Nuances range from black to distinctive metallic colours that make each hand-painted product unique and unrepeatable.
New Marble Powder Fabric
In addition to Degradé lacquering, Bentley Home are now introducing a new fabric produced using marble powder. The marble-powder fabric is available in a light grey matte version. Made entirely in Italy, from research into the material right through to production, master craftsmen tend to every single step in the process.
Certainly the 2021 Bentley Home Collection boldly reinterprets its deepest roots, bringing the language of the automotive world into a new idea of luxury.
