Welcome to Alto234
The doors to Africa’s highest urban bar, Alto234, opened to the public last weekend. The bar boasts 360-degree views over one of the most wooded cities in the world. What is more, they serve only the world’s finest when it comes to drinks, bar tapas and service.
Named Alto234, (Alto Latin for height and 234 for how tall it stands in metres), this breathtaking space is on the rooftop of The Leonardo in Sandton.

“As leaders in hospitality, we are on a constant quest to find great lifestyle and entertainment spaces. The rooftop of the tallest building in South Africa is so exceptional that it had to be shared with all,” says Robert Hodson, COO of Legacy Hotels & Resorts.
Why visit Alto234 Johannesburg?
If you can, come for the glorious Highveld sunset. Then stay long enough to see Johannesburg transform from a man-made forest into a cityscape of magical fairy lights.

Yes, you have to stay for the view. We assure you that this will not be a hardship. Not when you are enjoying a fine beverage and a sublime nibble courtesy of award-winning AURUM Restaurant.
The wine list conveys the best on offer from around the world as well as familiar favourites from the Cape Winelands. Cocktails are fun, trendy and edgy with just the right amount of sophistication. Of course, those feeling peckish can explore the luxury tapas menu. Many of the bespoke snacks have bar menu pairings.

Moët & Chandon at Alto234
Moët & Chandon is the bar’s preferred champagne supplier. The limited edition Moët Mini Machine offers guests the opportunity to experience French savoir-faire at its finest. Using Moët & Chandon tokens, guests can purchase Moët Mini 200ml bottles with golden sippers right out of the machine at the perfect temperature. It is, without a doubt, the most innovative champagne service in Africa and exclusive to Alto234.

“There’s something dazzling about the combination of perfectly chilled champagne and panoramic city views stretching to the horizon. So, the partnership between Alto234 and Moët & Chandon was a natural one – after all, could there be a more perfect match than Africa’s highest bar and the world’s most loved champagne?” says Patrick Leslie, Portfolio Manager at RGBC.
