Oris Movember edition

This year, Oris is partnering again with The Movember Foundation, the world’s leading men’s health charity, to raise awareness of important issues, and to raise funds in support of the charity and the projects it funds.

“Men are dying too young, on average 6 years earlier than women. The state of men’s health in South Africa is in a crisis. Men deserve better when it comes to their health, and they need to take action now to make this change happen. Too often, guys facing prostate cancer and testicular cancer are facing an uphill battle because of late detection. Too many men are unware of the health risks they face. We’re giving men the tools they need to live life. And live it well,” says Garron Gsell, chief executive and founder of the Men’s Foundation.

Through the Oris Movember Crew and through sales of the new Oris Movember Edition, Oris has set goals for raising funds for the charity.Oris is inviting customers, partners and friends of the brand to join. Whether you grow a ‘Mo’, take part in a shave-down, or buy the watch, there’s a part for everyone to play.

As part of its support of this year’s Movember, Oris is introducing the Oris Movember Crew, a global movement led by a trio of incredible men whose work is changing men’s lives all over the world. Oris has invited Dr Johannes Wimmer, Miguel Gutierrez and Scott Poynton to be the international faces of the crew. Each is motivated by the belief that things can and should be done better.

The Crew

‘You don’t have to be rich, you don’t have to be famous and you don’t have to have a huge social following to make a difference,’ says Oris Chairman Ulrich W. Herzog. ‘You just have to step forward and do something. It starts with each one of us. It’s an honour to launch the Oris Movember Crew and to be working with these men on this year’s campaign. I’m hugely excited to see the impact the Oris Movember Crew will have as we look to beat this year’s fundraising target.’

‘Oris is passionate about bringing change for the better and to improving men’s lives, and we’re delighted to be supporting the inspiring mission of The Movember Foundation.’

In the years since, more than 5.5 million men and women – Mo Bros and Mo Sistas – have taken part in Movember across 21 countries. To date, the charity has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects. Its goal is to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25 per cent by 2030.

The Rules
No matter how you’re doing Movember, get yourself going on the right foot.

• GROWING A MO? Get it Right – No matter the shape or style of your Mo this Movember, your face can inspire donations, conversations and real change. There are only a few rules in Movember, but they’re vital.
Rule 1: Start clean-shaven on Movember 1st.
Rule 2: No beards, no goatees. We’re all about the Mo.
Set your sights on a Mo style. Are you confident you can outdo Hulk Hogan himself? Or shooting for a modest Wisp? Your moustache is your hairy billboard for the month of Movember, so get a little creative. Sacrifice a beard, dye your Mo, auction it off to the highest donor: the more eyes on your Mo, the better.
• MOVE- Commit to walking or running 60 kilometres over the month. That’s 60 kilometres for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour.
• HOST- Raise funds by doing what you already get a kick out of. Get your friends together for a Mo-ment.
• VIEW – Visit for ideas.
