BMW Motorrad Unveils the New R 18 Models

BMW Motorrad has once again redefined the cruiser segment with the introduction of the latest R 18 models, enhancing both the aesthetic and technical features of these iconic motorcycles. The 2025 lineup includes the R 18, R 18 Classic, R 18 Roctane, R 18 B, and R 18 Transcontinental, all tailored to meet the discerning tastes of luxury motorcycle enthusiasts.

BMW New Era of Riding Pleasure

Markus Lederer, Head of Boxer Series, encapsulates the essence of these updates, stating, “Even more riding fun – that was our goal when revising the BMW R 18 and R 18 Classic.” The revisions aim to enhance the overall riding experience, with a focus on comfort, design refinement, and compliance with the new Euro 5+ emissions standard.

The R 18 models now boast increased torque, with the 1,802 cc Big Boxer engine delivering a robust 163 Nm at 3,000 rpm, ensuring exhilarating performance. The engine control has been meticulously revised to meet stringent emissions regulations, while still providing a thrilling ride.

The Design Evolution of BMW

The revamped R 18 features a purist yet contemporary design, highlighted by newly crafted front and rear wheel covers and an upgraded 18-inch rear wheel. This transformation not only enhances the motorcycle’s dynamic appearance but also solidifies its authentic cruiser character. The new wheel design, featuring seven double spokes, can be complemented with optional Contrast Cut Wheels, adding a touch of bespoke elegance.

The iconic fuel tank’s sculptural form flows seamlessly into the rear fender, while the front fender now showcases a modern aesthetic with a sculptural surface elevation. Further enhancing the riding experience, the R 18 introduces a thicker, more comfortable single seat, removable with a discreet push-button release.

Classic Charm Meets Modern Features

The R 18 Classic retains its nostalgic allure while benefiting from a refined design. The new front mudguard and 19-inch spoke front wheel enhance its classic touring bike credentials. Standard features now include daytime running lights and a USB-C charging socket, ensuring both style and functionality.

For those seeking a more dramatic aesthetic, the new Blacked Out variant offers a strikingly elegant look with black elements throughout, available in several sophisticated colour options, including Blackstorm Metallic and Two-Tone Brooklyn Grey.

Enhanced Comfort and Technology

The introduction of the Comfort Package across various models elevates the riding experience further. Features such as Cruise Control, heated grips, and Hill Start Control are now more accessible, making long journeys more pleasurable. The R 18 B and R 18 Transcontinental have also received enhancements, including a favourites button for quick access to essential functions and new colour schemes that reflect modern sophistication.

A Comprehensive Range of Customisation

BMW Motorrad continues to cater to individual preferences with a wide array of optional equipment and accessories. From the luxurious Aero design package to the striking Option 719 cast wheels, riders can personalise their R 18 models to reflect their unique style.

The new R 18 models are not just motorcycles; they are a statement of luxury and performance, embodying the spirit of freedom that every rider seeks. With their blend of classic charm and modern technology, these bikes promise an unparalleled riding experience that is as exhilarating as it is stylish.
