The KWV XXO 20 potstill brandy has an exciting new look. It unifies contemporary elegance with the excellence of craftsmanship and decades-long maturation in oak.
The KWV New Look
The new look features a bold new XXO designation on the front of the bottle. Interestingly, the new look is partly due to revised global classifications and requirements for the category.
Legislation previously designated drinks older than 10 years as XO. They recently revised this with a new XXO designation for brandies and cognacs aged for 14 years or more. Beyond the age designation, the XXO’s refreshed design emphasises the artistry that has defined KWV brandy since the 1920s. It also portrays the company’s reputation as a maker of the world’s best brandy.
Housed in a beautiful copper red gift box with gold accents, the new decanter-like bottle employs a multifaceted design. This emphasizes the stature of the golden liquid it contains.
The sophisticated new look serves to embody what KWV XXO 20 stands for, honouring true craftsmanship and attention to detail. KWV crafts KWV XXO 20 from the finest quality grapes, and distils it in batches in copper pot stills. They then mature the spirit in small French oak barrels.
Decades later, the Master Distiller blends XXO 20 to perfection. Through painstaking attention to detail, brandies aged for a minimum of 20 years and up to 32 years are blended by taste to create the consistent flavour profile KWV XXO 20 is renowned for. Finally, the result is well-integrated characters that, in the words of KWV Master Distiller Pieter de Bod, are reminiscent of fruit cake, sweet spice, oak wood and honey, followed by a satin-smooth, lingering finish.
Independent connoisseurs the world over revere KWV XXO 20 and it has a plethora of accolades in its wake. Notably, KWV was a Category Winner at The World Brandy awards in 2019. The distillery also laid claim to the title of Best Brandy Producer in the World for a staggering fifth year in a row, between the prestigious International Spirits Challenge (ISC) and International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).
In more recent award news, the KWV XXO 20 just brought home Gold from the World Spirits Awards 2021. This fine brandy is available from all major retailers and the KWV Emporium.
